Instant 2 Ingredient Donuts

Donuts are so delicious but would usually take hours to make from making the dough, rising, shaping and frying. These 2 ingredient donuts are almost instant! Two ingredients, less than 10 minutes and you have perfectly soft, fluffy donuts to enjoy. What could be better?

Eggless Donuts

I get asked for eggless recipes so often! Usually you can substitute eggs in most baking recipes but these 2 Ingredient Donuts don’t require any eggs!

No Yeast Donuts

Bread making can be tricky if you haven’t done it before. It’s pretty easy to kill the yeast or not get a good rise if you aren’t too sure what you are doing. These donuts require no yeast so even young kids can get involved!

2 Ingredient Donut Flavors

How to Make 2 Ingredient Donuts

In a medium sized mixing bowl combine the self raising flour and greek yoghurt.

When a dough has started to form tip it out onto a floured work surface and knead for about a minute until the dough has fully come together. Sprinkle with extra flour if the dough is sticking.

2 Ingredient Donuts Recipe (4)

Using a small spoon or your hands break off about 1 Tbsp sized pieces of the donut dough and roll between your hands to form a ball. Use extra flour if the dough is sticking.

Continue until you have used up all the dough, you should end up with about 15 donut balls. Alternatively you can use a rolling pin to roll the dough out and a cookie cutter to form bigger round donuts that can be filled in the center.

2 Ingredient Donuts Recipe (5)

Make sure your oil is hot, if you are using a thermometer it should be about 180C / 350F. Place in half the donuts and allow them to fry for about 2-3 minutes or until puffed up and golden brown.

Remove the donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels or a wire rack. Continue with the next batch of donuts.

2 Ingredient Donuts Recipe (6)

If you are serving the donuts with cinnamon sugar coat them while they are still warm. The donuts are best served warm, my favorite is cinnamon sugar or salted caramel sauce!

Equipment For This Recipe

Mixing Bowls – My favorite mixing bowls!

Thermometer – A thermometer makes easy work to make sure your oil is at the right temperature. If you don’t have a thermometer you can just test the oil with one donut first to make sure it doesn’t burn.

Cast Iron Dutch Oven – A cast iron dutch oven keep your oil at a constand temperature but a heavy based saucepan can be used.

Common Questions about these 2 Ingredient Donuts

Can I make these 2 Ingredient Donuts without self raising flour?

Yes! You can substitute the 1 1/2 Cups of self raising flour with 1 1/2 Cups of standard all purpose flour mixed with 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder.

Can I make these 2 Ingredient Donuts without frying?

I haven’t tried these without frying but you could do it. I would recommend spraying the outside of the donut in oil and using an air fryer for the best results. The donuts wont turn out as great as if you fried them but they will still be delicious!

Do you have any other 2 ingredient recipes?

Two-ingredient dough is packed with protein thanks to the yogurt, and is free of the preservatives and artificial ingredients found in many prebaked crusts and prepared doughs. Once blended, you can work with it immediately, too.

How to make donuts without a form? ›

Take a square piece of foil and place it over one of your fingers. It needs to be large enough to cover the bottom of each cup in the muffin tin. A 5″×5″ square seemed to work best for me. Fold the foil around your finger, gently folding the sides up, to create a mold.

What can I use instead of yeast for donuts? ›

What Substitutes for Yeast?
  • Baking Soda and Lemon. If you are lacking yeast in your pantry or dry goods storage, try combining baking soda and lemon juice. ...
  • Baking Powder. The ratio to replace yeast with baking powder in a recipe is 1:1, making it much easier to substitute if you have baking powder on hand. ...
  • Whipped Eggs.

What makes a good donut? ›

All-purpose flour works well for doughnuts since it has a moderate amount of gluten–the binding protein commonly used in baking. This gluten content helps create a dough that is strong enough to trap air, which helps create the fluffy doughnut texture we all love.

Why is my 2 ingredient dough so sticky? ›

Your dough can become sticky when you add too much water or the flour isn't suitable for the type of dough you are making.

What happens if you don't mix dough enough? ›

If you don't knead your dough, your baked bread won't rise as high, and the overall texture and appearance will be dense. Properly kneaded dough promises a softer, fluffier, taller, and chewier bread.

How long do homemade donuts last? ›

You can keep your donuts fresh in the fridge for up to 1 week. Be warned that any icing or glaze on your donuts might become runny the longer they're in the fridge. This won't affect the freshness, but try to eat donuts with icing or glaze sooner rather than later if you're worried about the appearance.

How to make a DIY donut pan? ›

All you need is a cupcake pan and some regular old tin foil! Cut the foil into a 4 x4 square and bend gently around your middle finger. Remove your finger and press the shape you're left with into the muffin tin. The results: You're left with a perfect donut hole shaped tin that yields you round baked donuts.

Are Krispy Kreme donuts yeast or cake? ›

If you're eating a jelly- or a cream-filled doughnut, you are eating a yeast doughnut. Of course, the pinnacle of the yeast doughnut variety is the Original Glazed made by Krispy Kreme (more below). Cake doughnuts, on the other hand, are denser—dare we say, cakier—and better for dunking in your coffee.

Are powdered donuts yeast or cake? ›

Is oil or butter better for donuts? ›

Fried just tastes better, and when it comes to doughnuts, the only way to achieve that light-as-air interior and ever-so-slightly crispy crust is by dunking the dough in piping hot oil.

Which flour is best for donuts? ›

Use real cake flour – not DIY cake flour!

DIY substitutions don't really cut it, and AP flour will not create doughnuts with that same soft texture. Also, bleached cake flour will work best. Unbleached (like King Arthur Baking) won't absorb as much moisture, and you may end up with doughnuts that crumble while frying.

Should donuts be baked or fried? ›

While many prefer the light and crispy texture of a fried donut, leaving the deep fryer in the cabinet and baking your cake donuts instead makes for healthier, less oily donuts. It's also safer and easier to clean up, given that you don't have to deal with lots of hot oil.

Can you keep 2 ingredient dough in the fridge? ›

Yes, you can make the dough ahead and refrigerate it in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
