Health for all: everyone should have equal access to innovations 🌍💊 As someone who has been working in the Austrian healthcare system for 20 years, I can only stress how important the message for #WorldHealthDay 2024 is. "My health, my right" 🌟 not only reflects a global vision, but also addresses specific challenges we face in Austria 🇦🇹. Despite our comparatively well-developed healthcare system 🏥, there are still significant hurdles when it comes to access to innovative therapies for patients. In fact, it should not matter where someone lives 🏠, what treatment locations are available or what income someone has 💸 - access to the latest therapeutic developments should be an inalienable right. My experience over the last two decades has taught me that the potential to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our healthcare system depends, among other things, on ensuring patient rights🛡️Unfortunately, it is often the case that patients have to fight for access to therapies based on the latest scientific findings ⚔️. This should not be the case. Our mission at Novartis Österreich is therefore to take a leading role in collaborating with all stakeholders in the healthcare system to ensure equitable and timely care 💪. World Health Day serves as a reminder and incentive for us to work tirelessly towards this goal. #ReimaginingMedicine #InnovativeMedicines #WHD2024 🌈🩺

#JanssenOpenHouse - this is where the future is actively shaped, discussed and relevant healthcare topics are worked on.The public session in November brought together the content from a year of healthcare dialogue. The format: one topic, many perspectivesIn 2023, a total of 4 sessions were held to shed light on a topic from different perspectives. The individual sessions are used to discuss and work on viable solutions that will help to continuously improve healthcare provision for the future. The goal: to improve healthcare in a concrete and sustainable wayAnd this is only possible in a dialogue with all stakeholders. This is the idea that characterises the format - the healthcare dialogue. For more than 6 years now, the JOH has been a platform for open and results-oriented dialogue. The experts: stakeholders from the healthcare sector and societyTackling challenges together is only possible if all perspectives are included. The guests are patients, doctors, representatives of patient organisations, media representatives and scientists who engage in dialogue with the hosts and experts from Janssen. The conclusion: Shaping the future is only possible together! Many thanks to Janssen Germany for the many exciting sessions and the great format!

Sciana's position paper, addressed to the new Swiss health minister, rightly states that patients' needs are given too little consideration in our healthcare system. True, but an extraordinary statement, if you think about it. Whose needs should be paramount in a healthcare system? Five central propositions, including the above, and five corresponding areas for reform are identified. May this paper make a positive contribution on the path to a sustainably functioning healthcare system! Please read it!

New study on 2021 Ahr valley floods’ health impacts published open access which I am happy to have been a part of: https://lnkd.in/eAhG7hsq --> Key findings based on insurance data provided by BKK Dachverband e.V. Nordwest include an increase in prevalence of mental health burden following the devastating rain falls in summer 2021 compared to 2020. Further, an increase in pregnancy-related burden, injuries, and unspecific diagnoses indicating an increased uptake of hospital services was seen. --> Even so, we believe that our findings likely underestimate the extreme weather event's health consequences, considering among other that this routine data fails to cover people with mental health issues not accessing healthcare due to a variety of reasons - e.g. stigma and restricted health infrastructure - the flood event led to damaging of 4 hospitals, +100 medical practices, +60 pharmacies, streets and bridges, impeding and delaying healthcare visits. We acknowledge important work done by e.g. Traumahilfezentrum Ahrtal: www.thz-ahrtal.de

👩🔬Telemedicine has the potential to sustainably improve healthcare in Germany - while maintaining a high level of medical quality. Among other things, it can help to compensate for supply bottlenecks in rural areas or make high-quality medicine much more easily accessible for patients. We therefore see it as a positive sign that the new digital law is setting the course for telemedicine. In order for telemedicine to provide even greater added value in the future, we and the Spitzenverband Digitale Gesundheitsversorgung believe the following adjustments are needed in the law, for example:💻telemedicine is more than just video consultation: the newly created regulations should cover all telemedicine services, including video case conferences, telemedical consults, radiological assessment of findings or telemedical monitoring, and telemedical interactions and functional checks.🤳enable information on telemedicine: Actual promotion of telemedicine requires that information about these services be allowed. However, this is not possible due to the ban on advertising as it currently exists in § 9 HWG. The paragraph should be abolished. You can read more about this in the SDGV's current statement on the digital law.#futureofhealth #healthtechDr. Anne Sophie Geier Dr. Paul Hadrossek Janina Lentrodt Matthias Mieves Maximilian Funke-Kaiser Johannes von Bueren, MD Nico Hribernik Dr. Manuel Nothelfer

1.5 million women can be annually saved from premature deaths caused by cancers, by ensuring primary and secondary prevention. Patriarchy and colonialism pervasive across societies, governance structures and institutions have thwarted the much needed attention to women’s health. It is a colossal tragedy that a woman dies of cervical cancer every 90 seconds despite the availability of a vaccine that can prevent the #humanpapillomavirus ( HPV), a major cause of cervical cancer. In addition, timely screening and removal of pre-cancerous lesions can help prevent these unfortunate deaths. What are we waiting for? As we watch, cervical cancer incidence continues to rise among young women. Inaction would lead to a further 50% increase in cervical cancer deaths, felling women in their prime. Women living with #HIV have a 6x higher risk of developing cervical cancer. Social, economic and emotional costs of these deaths are too high to be overlooked. I am at the #WorldHealthSummit speaking at the following panel on #womencancers and a later session on #cervicalcancer to help generate a sense of urgency. Very grateful to the growing number of partners of the #GlobalHPVConsortium for their incredible determination to accelerate the fight against HPV and cervical cancer.
