"Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" is an anime sequel series to the extremely popular show "Inuyasha," which ran from 2000 to 2004. The show features an original story set years after the first series, focusing on the twin daughters of "Inuyasha" characters Sesshomaru and Rin namedTowa and Setsuna, along with the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, Moroha. After being involuntarily separated at four years old, the twins are reunited years later, but there's a twist. While Setsuna remained in their home world, Towa is sent to the modern era alone, and Setsuna grows up to become a hardened demon slayer who doesn't remember her past. At the same time, a teenage Moroha also has no memory of her family and upbringing.

The sequel series"Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" premiered its first season in October 2020 with 24 episodes, and a second season was announced shortly after the Season 1 finale. Taking on a fan-favorite franchise like "Inuyasha" is no easy feat, and many fans voiced criticism of the new series, with the Anime News Network even labelling the show one of the worst anime of winter 2021. But "Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" isn't over, and many hope the second season will turn things around and give the show its own unique identity.

Here's what we know so far about"Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" Season 2.

Like in Season 1, the new episodes of"Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" will continue to focus on the half-demon twins Towaand Setsuna and Inuyasha's daughter Moroha. Towa is voiced by Sara Matsumoto, a rising talent in voice acting who has also worked on "My Hero Academia" and"Boruto: Naruto Next Generations," while Setsuna is voiced by Mikako Komatsu, who has had a long career that includes roles in "Jujutsu Kaisen," "Ajin," and "The Garden of Words." As for Moroha, she is voiced by Azusa Tadokoro, who people might recognize from "Aikatsu!" and "Violet Evergarden," among many other anime projects.

The parents of the young women also appear, meaning that longtime fans of the franchise will get to see Inuyasha, Kagome, Sesshomaru, and Rin once again. Another favorite character from the original anime, Shippo, appears in the sequel series as well. When Towa and Setsuna are reunited after a decade apart, Towa finds her sister working for a demon-slayer named Kohaku with her teammate Hisui, two characters who appear in "Inuyasha" but also play a big role here. The show has many solid connections to "Inuyasha," so there are plenty of other familiar characters from the first series that either are a major part of "Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" or simply make an appearance, like Sango, who is Kohaku's older sister and Hisui's mother, and her husband, Miroku.

As the story of"Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon" goes, the twin sisters Towa and Setsuna are separated at a young age during a forest fire, with Towa ending up in the modern world while Setsuna remains in Feudal Japan. 10 years later, the two are finally reunited, but Setsuna curiously has no memories of her past, spending her days working as a demon-slayer. Bringing Moroha into the mix, she has a similar case of memory loss, and so "the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past," as described in the official synopsis of the series.

Season 1 of "Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon"ends on a major cliffhanger, with Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha battling the Demon Beast King namedKirinmaru. The fighting is tough, and although Setsuna manages to land a blow onKirinmaru, he then strikes her down, seemingly killing her. But is she really dead? Considering past anime, probably not, and the show hints at her possible return in Season 2. As for Towa and Moroha, the two develop better control over their abilities and engage in a serious battle, but in the end, they cannot defeatKirinmaru. Meanwhile, Inuyashu, Kagome, and Rin are all still trapped, with Sesshomaru likely the reason behind it all.
